Lib Dem funding of Hackney schools
Just watching Nick Clegg get slaughtered by Paxman.
Interesting bit for me as a Hackney councillor and parent was that the Lib Dem Pupil Premium, allegedly designed to help the poorest kids, would according to their own figures (here) give just £471k to Hackney (Paxman says this equals just £50 per pupil), as opposed to £7.5 million for the Isle of Wight (half Hackney's population), and £4.7 million to leafy Herefordshire, which happen to be places they are electorally competitive in.

So you don't support poorer kids right across the UK getting funding according to their background and needs, which is what the pupil premium is. Despite Hackney schools being so well funded, they still aren't good enough - your 2 MPs wont send their kids to any of Hackneys schools- Abbott opted for City of London, and Megg Hiller won't even move to Hackney, prefering to stay in Islington and use local schools and nurseries. Says it all really.

Much though it sticks in my throat to say it, I was impressed by Cleggy's performance on Newsnight. Still won't vote for him of course, but seems to confirm again that he has most to gain from the debates etc.

Given that both Brown and Cameron have bottled out of being interviewed by Paxman, says a lot for Clegg that he has more guts than those 2
