Reaction to the Tories in Hackney

According to the Times conference diary (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/politics/article6867255.ece):

"We don’t like your sort here. A reminder that much of the country is yet to be won over by the Tories. One council candidate in Hackney, a Labour stronghold in East London, told us of a recent canvassing trip: “I knocked on one front door and as soon as I said, ‘Hello, I’m your Conservative Party candidate’, he punched me in the face.”"

Obviously I don't condone violence, but perhaps given what Tory policies would do to my constituents here in Hackney, they should try phone canvassing instead.

Do you think this week's Comedy Conference in Manchester has reminded voters of what they tossed out in 1997, Luke? I heard pensioners on the bus this morning grumbling about Cameron and his policies. I almost thought I'd slipped back in time to the bad old days of John Major.

Strangely enough, I was on the same bus with the grumblies.

They were complaining about Labour: driving the country into bankruptcy, letting in millions of foreigners, destroying their savings, jacking up their taxes, killing their grandchildren with futile wars, leaving their grandchildren with huge educational debts, spying on them with CCTV, interfering in their daily lives, and lying about everything.

I think that Tory deserves a medal for championing democracy in the one party state called the Peoples Republic of Hackney. Luke how the hell can you support a physical assualt on a fellow local politician? It could easily have been an innocent young Labour activist. Your and Labour's lax attitude to crime is one of the reasons this country is in the mess it is now.

Don't be silly, of course I don't support thumping Tory canvassers, any more than the Times diarist who wrote it up does.

The approved technique for dealing with canvassers from opposition parties is in fact to invite them in for a cup of tea and then keep them talking for as long as possible so they cannot visit any undecided voters.

Interesting really seeing as I know every conservative candidate/activist in Hackney and this story never happened.

However, at least it gave you something to focus on as opposed to the opinion poll above.

Sleep well Luke.

Your man is preparing to do a runner.

Tear in Gorgon's drug-addled, depressed retina.

The bastard is going to shuffle out the back on health grounds so as he's able to say the catastrophe at the next election is not down to him and things would have been different and he could have saved the world because there was no boom and bust, and anyway it was all down to world events.

MacCavity's cat. Someone's going to have to drag the useless scumbag from his bed to admit responsibility.

Tories in with a majority of 170 seats.

Poor old Luke will be sitting in the Town Hall knowing he's locked into Tory policies for the next 15 years at which time he'll be too old to get a look-in. A permanent PPC for nowhere in particular.

Teaching in one of those new Swedish schools might be a smart career move. It's just like the Assisted Places scheme. Only better.

Every kid in Hackney gets a chance to grab £5,000 and select a good education which Luke and his mates can't do anything about.

Nice to see Arnold (you *must* really be a school kid or Tory plant) and Co haven't changed while I was away!

Keep running down and lying about the Tories guys it'll get you in practice for opposition!

Oh and Luke, apart from the stomach churning site of you on the podium at the Liebour conference (Judging by the audience though at least most people missed it with the seats less than 10% full) you should realise that we have paid for the NHS BIG TIME.

It doesn't need suck asses like you to praise what it gets (over)paid for. You're entitled to the health care unless you're Gordon Brown and have your eye ops in the States.

Keep up the good work guys - you look more weird and delusional by the minute.

Isn't it reassuring to know that the taxpayers have funded the shits bonuses.

I think you should block all "anonymous" postings, see if these people have the courage to put their names next to their comments.

"Every kid in Hackney gets a chance to grab £5,000 and select a good education" - there might be a problem recruiting new teachers if their pay is frozen, so these newly empowered kids might have to travel outside the borough to find a "good education". What's the point of being given choice when the shelves are empty?

What control freak New Liebour people like you don't like is free expression - especially when it doesn't tow the Dear Leader's line and you disagree with it.

Hey why not use the Terrorism Act to arrest an 84 year old life long party member who happens to disagree with ID cards and shouts at one of your conferences.

I see Tory Nutters are out in force, somehow in total denial about homes for votes, jobs for the boys, cash for questions, arms to Iraq, slashed services, schools with no books, the sleaze of Nick Scott, Steve Milligan, Archer, Aitken, Denis's South African millions while his wife propped up apartheid, Sir Mark's honorary title, censorship of the media (banning MPs voices)and a series of other crimes against probity, decency and the people.

The idea the Tories wouldn't have gone into Bush's war is laughable. A sad joke from a shameless liar.

If you're too young to remember 79-97 then I feel sorry for the pain and shame you're going to feel when you see a Tory govt. Anyone who supported them through that miserable period but who is moaning now is a hypocritical disgrace.

Cooper on Question Time on inheritance tax?

Why do none of you Liebour supporters remind that slimey bitch that it just looks bad to be claiming £568000 a year from ordinary working men and woman and claiming to be working class.

It may not have been noticed by you mouth breathers that the last Tory Prime Minister was John Major, educated in a comprehensive school and brought up on a council estate in an inner city. (Thatcher was working class Grammer educated).

The last Labour Prime Minister, Tony Bliar - oh sorry did I mean Anthony Charles Linton Blair was NOT educated at the local comp.

Please don't start the "You elect the party not the minister" schoolboy politics crap here - Brown the Buffoon didn't even get elected by his own Party let alone the country... Oh didn't Tony Bliar say he would serve a Full Third term?

Lied about that one as well I see.

You Liebour hypocrites disgust me with your false socialist principals which mean shit when you get a sniff of power.

Lord Mandleson hahahahahahah uuurggh :-(

Kinnochio employs his wife, daughter and son in law in Europe - oh we pay for that as well.

Luke sitting on a platform is Stomach Churning because of the company he keeps on that platform.

Judge a person by the company he keeps... like Derek Draper, Tom Watson and Damian McBride.

The only person mentioning his disability is you dick head.

Typical New Labour control freak trying to shut down opposition

I happen to see people by their ability's and in Lukes case that is a blog with opinions I disagree with but one that is clearly thought through - unlike the people here like you who judge him on the fact he is in a wheelchair.

Your like Stalin mate - you'd confine less able people to the Gulag.

The Nasty Party was always the people who smear the name of a man who has just lost a disabled son - when it comes to Nasty... Brown employs the best...

... but you won't answer the McBride comment you'll just go off with your holier than thou bit and NEVER answer the question.

Come on you prat justify McBrides behaviour when an apology had to be dragged out of that nail biting lying twat in the Downing Street Bunker...

...well...

Homes for votes one Tory councillor - sacked.

Baroness Scotland employs illegal worker and lies about seeing a passport (Which shows she couldn't work) - Prime Mentalist has full confidence in her.

Jobs for the Boys. Too many Labour Lords to list - Mandleson defrauds building society, fiddles passports - sacked then Prime Mentalist has full confidence in him. Sick.

Archer, Aitkin not Government policy just bad people who were jailed for libel. McBride and Draper libel from Downing Street... resigned not sacked.

The difference between the Tories and these shit sacks is the 'government' behaves badly not individuals. Hundreds of thousands murdered in illegal wars.

When did the Tories do that? When did they smear people like that lying piece of shit Brown hiding in the bunker?

When did the Tories release a Libyan mass murderer for an oil deal?

Or the BA Saudi stinker Bliar arranged.

What kind of people are you lot that agree that sort of behaviour is acceptable?

Er, no. Shirley Porter was the leader of Westminster Council, became Mayor then resigned and ran away to Israel when she and five others were faced with a bill of £27m. She hid her money in trusts and pleaded poverty, while her friends back at the council continued to block attempts to get any payment. She now lives in Westminster, Palm Springs and Tel Aviv; she got away with it.

Cameron’s bereavement - the man himself brought it up in his Conference speech.

Al Megrahi was released so he would drop his appeal to prevent the disclosure that the US knew he was innocent all along. Anything else is smokescreen

Awaiting the return of Old Labour

Hi Max,

I think the point is that is was Tory bad eggs as individuals vs BAD government policy just like 10p tax - it's cruel and hits the lowest paid and SHOULDN'T be Labour policy.

Frank

I agree with you on the 10p tax but I don't accept the "bad eggs" idea, they were merely the visible symptom of underlying Tory policy at the time and I don't hear any difference in the current crop.

That being said if they repealed the 81 Housing Act and started a massive council house rebuilding program even I might vote Tory. Or Lib Dem. They won't as all 3 major parties are totally focused on the middle class marginals because that is where elections are won or lost.

Why do you think BNP are doing so well these days?

Hi Max,

I'll give you radical - why not reopen the mines? Run them properly. There is 400 years of coal at current rates in South Wales alone. We keep buying coal from Germany how can that be cheaper? Use clean coal technology but just give people real jobs. I'd vote for *anyone* who will do that even the Lib Dems!

Frank

10:11 am, October 14, 2009

Anonymous Dagenham Max said...

Radical idea indeed, Frank, which is why it will never happen. It’s not just the Tories who would see any expansion of the mining industry as a possible return of power to the NUM, look how New Labour have tried to disassociate themselves from the Union movement and their working class past. Far easier to buy coal from Germany or wherever and let them deal with industrial relations while we keep people the dole.

When we have all three parties approaching these problems from the same direction just varying in degrees what hope of any change?
