Iran

I was reading the horrific accounts in Saturday's Times of torture of young pro-democracy protesters in Iran (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/middle_east/article6805885.ece) and then stumbled across this video on YouTube which sets images of the protests in Iran to "Bella Ciao", the song of the wartime anti-fascist partisans in Italy:

Iran is a pretty ghastly place. However, there clearly is a strong opposition, and the question is how they can be assisted constructively without an unwanted invasion, which they too would oppose

Actually Iran is a pretty nice place. We visited last summer and were astounded by the hospitality and friendliness. Many other tourists were there -- even a few Yanks. And, there's really no evidence of election fraud in Iran despite all the chatter.

Maybe you are right about no evidence of election fraud.
But there is Certain evidences of torture, raping and killing hundreds of people in Iran and according to the government himself about five thousands of those friendly Iranians you talked about, were arrested last month in post election protest. Can you tell me how many million people were in that protest that five thousands of them were arrested? See just four pictures in this post on my web log

No one doubts that there were abuses in prisons (rape has yet to be proven though) and in fact the Iranian government itself has said so, and closed down a prison and is prosecuting people for the abuses. Note that the US has not done the same when it comes to CIA abuses of detainees. Nor did the UK do the same for abuses of Irish detainess. So where does that leave us?

It leaves you exposing yourself as a Quisling for theocratic repression, anonymous.

Oh for god's sake. If you want "theocratic repression" have a visit to Saudi Arabia, our closest and bestest ally in the Mideast, or Kuwait, the country we went to war for, or any number of other dictatorships that are close US allies. Iran doesn't even come close. LOL!

This is a great site that you have here. I have a site myself where people can freely express their opinions towards controversial debate topics. After looking at your site, I see that you have some valuable insight you can provide us. This is why I left this comment.

Keep up the good work. Maybe we can do a link exchange.

Sincerely,
Jason

The USA and Britain support a government in Afghanistan that actually has the right in law for a husband to rape his wife and then we selectively complain about oppression in Iran what a load of right wing hypocaracy?
