Ray Collins was named as the new Labour Party General Secretary following today's meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC).

Supporter of Europe, NATO/nuclear deterrence, Israel, electoral reform. Guardian reader. Dad. Oxford resident. Unite union member. Employment history as a Labour Party Organiser, Local Government Political Assistant, Director at a Public Affairs company. All views expressed in a personal capacity. I don't think he was the only candidate with trade union credentials (though it's fair to say he was the only one on the shortlist).
