No time for complacency

I've had trouble convincing everyone I know in the Labour Party of the seriousness of the threat posed by Boris Johnson.

Today's YouGov poll showing him 5% ahead of Ken - 44% for Boris, 39% for Ken, 12% for Paddick, should be a wake up call.

Too many people have been talking a good game about this election and not actually campaigning in it.

Now is the time for everyone who wants to keep London Labour to start delivering leaflets, knocking on doors or hitting the phones. If activity isn't being organised in your patch yet, take the responsibility and offer your services to the campaign here: http://www.kenlivingstone.com/page/s/support

Labour supporters need to think how it would feel to wake up to Mayor Boris on May 2 and clear their diaries for two months of campaigning to make sure that nightmare does not become a reality.

What makes you think Ken deserves to win. The man is bent and he deserves to lose.

Why on earth would London want Ken over Boris, Boris has far more to offer.

Good luck to the bloke.

Luke people are tired of Labour, change is in the air. If Labour wanted to keep London Labour then they should have sacked Ken and run with another candidate.

His expenses are scandalous and he has been fighting a very dirty and unfair campaign. His aides are being investigated by the serious fraud office and Ken himself is now being closely watched by our security services.

The man has no respect for the london assembly and no respect for his remit as London Mayor. Overstepping the boundaries of his job and venturing onto larger scale politics. The man truly is a threat to London and the UK.

Ken even looks tired and old, he really doesn't offer anything new or innovative.

If Labour voters have got any sense they will vote for change. A vote for Boris might actually show this government that they do have to start listening.

Well, personally because I want more buses, more affordable housing, and cleaner air.

"If Labour wanted to keep London Labour then they should have sacked Ken and run with another candidate."

Because that worked so well last time...

To be frank the fact that Labour are still supporting Ken is disgusting.

I was chatting to one of my suppliers only last week who is based in London. This chap up until two year ago was a local supporter of Labour, because of Ken he has now withdrawn all his support and donations to the Labour party.

How can Labour support someone who is blatantly misusing public funds. His own expenses are truly shocking with one hotel bill costing the tax payer nearly £6000.00.

And then there's Yusuf al-Qaradawi who defended the London bombings, yet Ken Livington gave this man the red carpet treatment.

Labour talk about equality but here they are inviting Yusuf al-Qaradawi who is no different from Hitler. A man who hates gays, preachers hate, Peodofilia and violence against women and the kuffur.

It has taken until 2008 for Brown to finally ban this horrid man from our country....yet Ken still openly supports the work of Yusuf al-Qaradawi.

After leaving the military I worked for inner realms of security services and some of my family still do. Do you realise how much damage these extremists are doing to our tourist industry. Most Americans now view British cities as unsafe...even the American CIA view Britain as a security risk. I have done a little consultancy work for the companies wishing to attact wealthy American vistors and most of the vists are now planned in rural areas because of this threat.

When are you people going to wake up and realise that people don't want this sort of man running London.

I can't stand the bloke but you can't really expect anyone to take you seriously if you make up nonsense like this.

Qaradawi's comments on the London bombings are clear in this article: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/islamic-leaders-will-issue-fatwa-on-terrorists-498278.html

I don't have to look very far for the truth...even the BBC has it. Dispatches on 4ondemand has the recording...watch it.

How much proof do you need....

Jackson Jeffrey Jackson how the hell can you defend a man you supports violent Jihad?
Yusuf al-Qaradawi has openly proclaimed Muhammad as the prototype jihadist. He supports Palestinian suicide bombings ion Israel.

Quote from July 2003, the European Council for Fatwa and Research on Stockholm

"The martyrdom operations carried out by the Palestinian factions to resist the Zionist occupation are not in any way included in the framework of prohibited terrorism, even if the victims include some civilians."

He believes suicide bombings are not a terrorist act!!!

Jackson Jeffrey Jackson your support for this man is shocking. You are just as dangerous to this country and Ken and all the New Labourites supporting these violent criminals. You will not give a hoot until one of your own or maimed or killed.

Blimey, they're all out today.

Rich - find me a quote where Qaradawi defended the London bombings, as you claim. Or admit you were wrong about that. It's ok to admit you were wrong sometimes.

Anon - I didn't defend him. In fact I can't stand the man (as I already mentioned, maybe you can't read?) and think Livingstone shouldn't have invited him over. That doesn't mean you can just make stuff up about him. You hysterical nutjob.

Qaradawi did defend the London Bombings and he was recorded on more than one occassion saying just that. This is the sole reason for him being banned from Britain. Did you not read any of the links I posted.

What these people say in public and what they say behind closed doors are very different. You should watch the dispatches programme and make your own mind up. In one breath the council issues a 'fatwa' yet a day a later Qaradawi then says these people are not terrorists. I would say that is pretty clear.

You are playing a very dangerous game and then end result could end up being very bloody. Defend these types of people and all those that defend them at your own expense.

Labour are on the verge of creating a divided country and one that could easily result in civil war.

- I haven't defended him or anything he's said. Just pointed out your inaccuracies.

"The Home Secretary came under fire last night for allowing a radical Lebanese propagandist with links to the extremist group Hezbollah to enter Britain for a national speaking tour.

The Conservatives urged Jacqui Smith to ban Ibrahim Moussawi from the UK, warning that he was "likely to foment extremism or promote violence".

Mr Moussawi edits Hezbollah's newspaper and is former political editor of the Iranian-backed group's television station, which is banned in many countries including France, Spain and the U.S. where its output is seen as anti-Semitic. "

Can Labour explain this please.

You don't half talk some bollocks mate. Socialism is the only political philosophy that seriously tries to address the inequities in society. At its best it can be combined with the liberal traditions of this country to create things like the welfare state. That is why JJJ, Luke, Susan, I and others believe in it.

On the wider point on you being a glory hunter, well that just shows how sad and fickle you really are!!

Davehill, where is his finger? Ken almost expects the job and even though I want him to lose the odds are stacked up against Boris.

I don't think Boris will win this one, the whole Labour machine is working against him. The sad thing is that Ken will end up destroying London and you lot will be the first to moan.

My life in lovely rural England will continue as normal. You can have Ken and you can keep your dirty and smelly London....why anyone would want to live there i will never understand.

Jackson Jeffrey Jackson, you are my new idol.

I dislike Qarawadi fundamentally (no friend of mine), but that bloke is really talking some bum.

I'd also point out that plenty of violent Jihads during history have been pretty good things (many have also been crappy, true). Supporting the concept doesn't mean supporting it now, or supporting it against non-aggressors, or supporting it against civilians.

If someone threatened my family and I was of a religious inclination, I'd put a Jee-had out on them double sharp.

If use of force stops greater force being used, then it should be used in the first instance.

Miller 2.0, what on earth are you on. 60 years ago people like you would be locked up for being a traitor. (No trial, no justice....just locked up). People like Qarawadi on the other hand would have been shot. Yes miller we did shoot people in the 1940s. So you should be thankful that the UK has moved on since then.

We are at war, we can't have people like that roaming our streets preaching jihad....as if they do....do you know what will happen?

I will tell, they will cause riots and people will end up dead. It will create a huge divide in the country and a civil war will break out between muslims and non muslims. You might think I'm being a little far fetched but take a look at Ireland. Slightly different but how many years did that mess take to resolve. Once blood has been spilt it can be very difficult to clean up. I have been spat at, punched, kicked and even fed tea laced with crushed glass and that is from fellow catholics in NI in the 1980s.

It wouldn't mind if the likes of Qarawadi were putting up a good argument against the war, but they not. The reality is they are prevoking violence and getting homeland support for those people killing our boys on the front line. How the hell do you think that makes me feel.

If I was to stand up in my church and tell people that it is ok to beat women or marry a minor then I'm sure I'd be run out of town.

It is not acceptable that Islam is allowed to exist in an extreme state in this country. There are too many conflicts and there is certainly an associated security risk.

why should labour people support Livingstone ?- Tony Blair was correct when he said he would be a disaster - polling shows people think there is something "dodgy" about him. There are so many reasons not to support him - but here are just a few - he takes the support of lesbian and gay voters for granted yet his support for Al- Qaradawi shows he his more interested in supporting homophobic hate (because he thinks that will deliver him a sizeable muslim vote).

Labour voters i meet are increasingly annoyed at his penchant for travelling business class around the world to spread his message - (on our money).

This is a man who has never run a business, never contributed to the wealth creation of this nation and yet thinks it is fit and proper to travel around the world (using our money) on numerous business class flights - whilst dictating to people what sort of cars he thinks they should drive. We need a mayor who understands that London is a fantastic city with huge potential for economic growth - not one who wants to penalise hard work. If those of us on the right of the labour party want to see a prosperous diverse city we should not support Livingstone. After Livingstone's defeat we can then find a labour candidate who can represent the true interests of the party not some dodgy bloke who represents only himself

Ken is great - he is a true socialist who will create a socialist city state in London - we can then get rid of the scrounging scots, including that right wing PFI fanatic who sits in N.10, and those north country slackers who want to feed off our city and then moan about us southerners. Ken should nationalise the top 200 monopolies and all the banks in London, we should then use the money from the banks to buy houses for working class Londoners, but Ken needs your support. The socialist Mayor of London needs another term of office to deliver socialism. Ken is a true Londoner who cares about our city. Vote Mayor Ken for radical socialism - where we screw the rich and give their big houses and fancy cars to working class families and where ther bosses start to clean the offices and the cleaners start to run the boardroom.
