A blog by Luke Akehurst about politics, elections, and the Labour Party - With subtitles for the Hard of Left. Just for the record: all the views expressed here are entirely personal and do not necessarily represent the positions of any organisations I am a member of.

Entryism is alive and well..

As revealed by comments here yesterday, entryism by the far left is alive and well, but rather stupidly publicising itself all over the web:

so now Cruddas has to re-work his stats about when Labour will be left with no members excluding the ones who are in more parties! :-)

Luke, out of interest what do you make of Blair's refusal to give up the PM's Lords appointment powers after Lords reform (which he won't be around to use anyhow), despite all that's happened? Don't you think he's being a bit of a prat?

As I'm in favour of a 100% elected second chamber, I guess logically I ought to disagree with any Prime Ministerial patronage powers re. Peers...

Luke you're not the only one but why are people lying down and taking this crap from a dud on his way out?

Then again, this is from a bizarre sect of MPs and SPADs who peddle such deluded rubbish like Labour voters demand Prescott and Blunkett in the Cabinet.

Here comes the summer!

So comrades, come rally,
And the last fight let us face.
The Internationale,
Unites the human race.

Come on Brother Luke we'll overcome the barricades - let us take on the capitalist scum that hold us workers to ransom

Take on the capitalist scum indeed Rosa.

The LRC clearly cannot allow members of electorally active political parties to join without throwing themselves open to a witch hunt. As loyal Labour campaigners they don't want that.

In fact they go narrower than the above formulation (which is The Co-op Party's more or less) and say no other parties at all. Which is sound.

I am happy to join Luke Akehurst in congratulating the LRC on their loyalty to the Labour Party. Perhaps he can get a resolution to this effect through his bustling branch and CLP?

Long may Luke and LRC continue to fight as comrades and colleagues - on the same side rather than aimlessly amongst themselves.

Why are there members of Respect in our party?

As I understand the link Luke published they are trying to get Respectees to be allowed into the LRC youth group which has the sensible position of not allowing that and of encouraging socialists and social democrats and democratic socialists to join the one true LP.

Surely someone can be kicked out for being a member of two political parties? In the meantime I'm happy for the party to take the Gallowayites' money!

They'd have to leave Respect to join the LP. But they can be in the Co-op Party and the LP e.g. Ed Balls.
